Vonderau Museum
The Stadtschloss or, as applicable, Residenzschloss palace
The Stadtschloss palace forms the glamorous focal point amidst the mundane buildings. This work of both beautiful and mighty Baroque splendour was erected as an extension of the former Renaissance palace by the order of the prince-abbots between 1706 and 1721. In the "Historic Rooms", visitors can admire the private apartments of the prince-abbots of Fulda, the ceremonial halls (downstairs) and the famous collection of porcelain from Fulda and Thuringia.
Children's Academy
Of course, adults, too, can discover excitement and items of interest from the natural sciences and technology, as well as from art and culture, in the oldest private children's museum of Germany. The "Walk-In Heart" is unique in Europe: Here, you can explore the heart of 36 square metres and a height of 5 meters virtually from the inside as a "red blood cell".
Fasanerie Palace
"Hesse's most beautiful Baroque palace". The former summer residence of the Hessian prince abbots is just a few kilometres south of Fulda. Today, there is a museum in the palace, which was built between 1739 and 1756. A guided tour through 60 exhibit rooms with collections about the courtly home decor, antique art and porcelain is like taking a walk through history.
Cathedral
The majestic cathedral is the landmark of Fulda. It was erected in the style of the Roman Baroque from 1704 to 1712. Today, the cathedral shines in new splendour once again after extensive restoration work.
Michaelskirche
The church was built in the years 819 to 822 where the Fulda Benedictine monastery once stood and belongs to the most important Medieval sacral buildings in Germany with a crypt that is as old as from the Carolingian period.
Discovering Fulda from the river
The Fulda River offers possibilities for discovering Fulda from an unexpected side. Experienced canoeists await their guests at the point of entry. The sports guides provide instruction and act as a tour guide at the same time. The tours offer a most special experience of nature and many opportunities for observing the plants and animals along the river. Anyone with an average level of fitness can go on this tour.
